About Me
Welcome to my world of exploration and creation! I’m Mario, a former developer turned adventurer, currently navigating the roads of Europe in my van.
My journey started in the halls of middle school, where I laid the foundation for my passion for building and creating. After some education as a mechatronics technician, I delved into the world of CNC machines. It was during this time that I spent a year building machines, gaining hands-on experience that fueled my fascination for bringing ideas to life.
A moment came when I went on a two-month motorcycle journey through the breathtaking nature of Norway. The simplicity of travel and the discovery that you can live with only a few essentials blew my mind. I became more and more interested in alternative lifestyles and exploring new ways of living.
Following this passion, I pursued a dual study program as an engineer in mechatronics, returning to the same CNC company where I had started my educational journey. During my studies, I was really into learning new things. At the same time, I discovered a new interest in software and all the cool things it could do. As the pandemic started, I found joy in building, not just machines, but also an oven for baking bread and sketching plans for a tiny house on a truck trailer. However, the desire to travel, explore, and learn about different lifestyles became more meaningful in my life.
After my study as a mechatronics engineer, I started programming PLC software for milling machines and delving into C++/C# coding. I really enjoyed the time with my teammates and also learned a lot for myself.
During this time, I discovered the possibilities of remote work, and I was fascinated by the lifestyle as a digital nomad. So things have changed. I abandoned my plans for the tiny house and started searching for new possibilities to combine work with traveling. Soon I discovered the vanlife movement. This idea was awesome because it could contain the parts of a tiny house, working remotely, and traveling, together. With the idea in mind, I started searching for a car to convert it into a living space. In April 2022, I finally found one, which was affordable. That was the beginning of my 1.5 years of learning, planning, practicing, and building.
In July 2023, I finally took the step and quit my job to focus full-time on building my dream van and starting a new chapter of my life. November 2023 marked the beginning of my European journey, where I aim to explore different lifestyles, connect with people, and engage in conversations about the world and future plans.
Join me on my journey.
